The Institute of Technology Management at the University of St.Gallen was founded in 1988. It maintains close links to industry through intense collaboration with Swiss and European organizations by means of major research and consulting projects. An experienced team of 60 researchers supports firms in order to increase future competitive advantages, from identifying the greatest improvement opportunities to their implementation.
The Division Production Management offers industrial organizations both industry and functional expertise, advisory and benchmarking competencies, and academic research. From a research perspective, new concepts and solutions in the field of digitalization (Industry 4.0), production management as well as Smart Services are being developed.
Furthermore, the institute supports industrial organizations in different industries and regions in their strategic planning, process optimization and the implementation of improvement initiatives. From process mapping to the (re-)formulation of a production strategy and recommendations for the use of digitalization solutions, the division offers a variety of research and consulting projects.
The University of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil (HSR) is active in the fields of education, training and application-oriented research and development (aF&E). Since its founding in 1972, the HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil has developed into a strong brand. The HSR stands for practice-oriented teaching, innovative research and the constant transfer of knowledge with industry, and trains around 1,600 students in 8 technical bachelor's degree programs. In addition, HSR offers the Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) in 8 research areas.
In application-oriented research and development aF&E, the HSR runs active technology and knowledge transfer. HSR's 16 institutes are successful in the market with their services and make HSR a strong partner for business, industry and the public sector. With around CHF 30 million in third-party funding and currently more than 400 research projects, HSR is one of the largest research institutions in Switzerland.
